Memorial plaque for Gustav and Petr Deutsch

We turn to Turnov-area residents and businesses with a request for financial support for a marble plaque to honor the memory of our Jewish neighbors Gustav and Petr Deutsch. Gustav and Petr, his son, fled from Liberec to Turnov after the Nazi annexation of the Sudetenland. In Turnov the two lived on Vejrych street. They were arrested at the beginning of the war, transported to Poland, and put to work in the Baukommando (construction unit) during the building of the concentration camp Gross-Rosen. They died while laboring under inhuman conditions. Their remains were returned to relatives in Turnov and are buried in Turnov’s Jewish cemetery.

The memorial plaque will be placed on the “memory wall” in Gross-Rosen.

Thank you for your contributions!
